Description
Excellent secular stone by size: 7,5 m long, 5,7 m wide, 2,6 m high, 22,30 m circumference, volume around 50 m3. Large-grained red granite. One of the 15 largest stones of Latvia.
Narrative
Legend about the Devil telling the Devil had left the stone behind. Other legends tell that the Russian Tsar Peter I, and also Napoleon, had had lunch at the stone. No carvings of heritage value.
Attraction
Excellent nature object of an interesting heritage value.
Availability
Very easy accessible. The stone is located aside of a road. During wet weather the stone may be partly covered by water; close to the stone, there is a ‘dam’ made by the beavers, which means the place is often flooded.
Infrastructure, management, facilities
Several signs aside of the road, not far from the secular stone. Next to the stone there are simple wooden stairs, so that the visitors could get on top of the stone.
