Description
A tale stone associated with the Devil’s activities; according to tales narrated by local people, the landlady of the nearby homestead used to cater spirits there. Another stone is related to this stone — the Devil’s Carriage. Dimensions: 4 m long, 2.5 m wide, up to 1.65 m high. Nearby objects: Devil’s Carriage.
Narrative
„Velns brauca no Kundziņiem uz Vecmangām. Pusceļā kariete iegrima purvā. Tad velns kāpa ārā un mēģināja karieti izstumt. Būtu arī izstūmis, bet tanī brīdi iedziedājies Takurandu gailis. Zirgi iztrūkušies un rāvušies ar tādu sparu uz priekšu, ka notrūkusi dīsele, kas nokritusi pie Vecmangām un tur arī palikusi.” (G. Eniņš. Lauku dzīve, 1990; Ruberte. Valmieras novada teikas. 1999.) Akmens virsma veido gludu plastiskas formas izliekumu, it kā tas būtu mākslīgi pieslīpēts, kamēr pārējās akmens daļas ir šķautņainas un saplaisājušas. Attraction
The dimensions of the stone are rather impressive, unfortunately the condition of the site (underbrush) affects the visual attractiveness significantly.
Availability
It is situated rather far from inhabited places, in underbrush woods. To reach it, one has to cross several ditches. No indication signs. One has to walk about 600 m from the place where the car can be left. It can be visited free of charge.
