Description
Devil’s Stone, tale stone. In tales it also appears under the name of Brieži Devil’s Footprint Stone. The volume of the stone is 22 m³, height of 2 m, length of 5.7 m, width of 4.8 m, and circumference of 17.7 m. The secular stone has an untypical form, the largest part is located under the ground. State geological geomorphological heritage. Other nearby objects: Sietiņiezis Rock, Vaidava Lake, Swedish Pine, Stoķi Cliffs, and the Health Spring.
Narrative
“Once the Devil was bringing stones to dam the Gauja River, but in the Sietiņi homestead a rooster started to crow, so he threw the stone at the Antoni homestead and fled away leaving his footprint in the stone. In former tomes on the flat surface of the stone one could see a horse footprint.” (G. Skutāns. Collection of Place Names (Vietvārdu krājums). Narrated by Pēteris son of Jānis Opmanis.)
Attraction
The dimensions of the stone are impressive, unfortunately its location in the yard of a homestead (more precisely, behind the household buildings) does not provide for high environmental quality.
