Description
The most secular oak in the Abava Valley. The circumference of the secular oak has reached 8.00 m. Though the overall condition is though bad, part of the trunk is without bark, the crown due to its age and winds has broken. In total only some branches are still green.
Narrative
The holy oak was first mentioned in April 1921 in the monthly publication “Cultural Herald” (“Kultūras Vēstnesis”). In the decades to come it was forgotten, until only in 1980 it was studied by a nature researcher from Kuldīga surroundings Atis Baiža. There is no wider folkloric material about the centenarian holy oak. As an ancient site it was marked basing on its name.
