Description
According to unconvincing information, the oak which grows at Zemite rectory has been a Sacrificial Oak. It grows at the E end of Zemīte rectory estate. A half of the oak recently came down, it lies next to the other half of the oak which continues to grow. The oak grows within a private property guarded by an angry dog, therefore it was not possible to measure the circumference of the oak and survey its surroundings. Generally, the oak is big, impressive and picturesque, its circumference could be around 4 – 5 metres, however, the growing of a heathenish sacrificial tree in the vicinity of the rectory could be highly questionable unless the rectory had been purposefully built close to the so-called Sacrifice Oak and Idol’s Linden and other traditions more acceptable to the church were associated with the oak.
