Description
The Līciema Burial Ground and Church Site have been overgrown by mixed forest; oriented in parallel with the upper edge of the Salaca River line, approximately in E-W direction. At the steep-sided bank, there are ancient dug-ups with separate stones. From the southern side, the Burial Ground is surrounded by a tangible terrace or a burial ground wall, which is about a meter high. There are several visible stones. The E and W ends of the Burial Ground are more vague. The central or the more visible par of the Burial Ground is about 30 – 40 m long and about 15- 20 m wide; it has several separate stones, shallow entrenchments, holes and other minor relief alteretions. About 20 m W of the Burial Ground, at the steep-sided bank, there is a row of four larger (the average size that of a meter and more) artificially placed stones, near which, closer to the Burial Ground, there is a separate even larger stone. Right there about several ten meters away from the Burial Ground in S direction, there is a former sand-pit, which has been leveled, and several overgrown pits. According to preliminary information, there have been also human bones found.
