Description
Girth of the old oak: 6,93 m. Close to the roots there is a large hollow in its trunk. A fence is built around the oak. There is also a sign.
Narrative
From early 20th century till the WW2 the place at the oak was used for open-air dances and the musicians had played the music from a special platform in the tree. There is no evidence the place had been a cult site. In 1932 the forester Kriss Melderis called the oak in his book “Evenings of the forest” (in Latvian: “Meža vakari”) the ‘Zemgale krivs’ (“krivs” personalizes the highest mental power of the ancient Baltic (especially – Prussian) tribes).
