Narrative
In the past, women used the stone as a slide, which was believed to ensure good fortune and fertility. Later the stone became a beloved place for children to play. Middle-aged people from the area around the Liukivi say they have all worn away the seat of their pants by sliding. Tens of sliding stones are known in Estonia. According to folk belief, sliding on certain stones makes women fertile and the influence extends to the woman’s livestock. If the sliding is to have an effect, it has to be done covertly in the nude (skinny-sliding), for instance seated on a juniper bough. Sliding stones are occasionally used to treat infertility even today.
Attraction
A fairly large stone rendered distinctive by the possibility to take a slide down its surface.
